WYRE Forest’s first Green Halls Show has been hailed a great success by people who are responsible for running some of the area’s best-known community halls and churches.

Wyre Forest District Council organised last week’s event in partnership with St George’s Church and Transition Kidderminster to demonstrate what can be done to make communal buildings more energy efficient.

Around 40 delegates took the opportunity to talk to experts in green energy water supplier advisors, the council’s conservation officer and fair-trade specialists.

The event was hosted by St George’s Church which has already undergone an energy-saving transformation and included a number of speakers including technical experts and people who have made community buildings more efficient, including a representative from Rock Village Hall.

Councillor Sally Chambers, cabinet member for health, well-being and housing, said: “The event was a great success and the feedback has been extremely positive.

“People appreciated the technical advice and practical tips and really enjoyed hearing about the experiences of those who have already taken actions and are reaping the benefits.”
