THE manager of Malvern Splash will go the extra round at a charity boxing match.

On Saturday, December 5, Ian Bonsall, Freedom Leisure Centre manager at Malvern Splash, will takes to the ring in the ‘Ultra White Collar Boxing’ event at Perdiswell Leisure Centre, in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Mr Bonsall decided to take part and help raise vital funds for the charity in memory of his mother after she passed away last year due to liver cancer.

For the past eight weeks he has been training with professional coaches twice a week as well as undergoing his own training regime at Malvern Splash.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to taking part in this event. The training has been tough at times as I’m training both in and outside of the gym everyday now, but it’s been brilliant learning a new sport and getting to use all of the new kit here at Malvern Splash. It’s certainly going to be a great night for an even greater cause and I can’t wait to get out there in the ring.

Ultra White Collar Boxing is aimed at novices and the event was set up for people to try a new sport and get fit while raising money for Cancer Research UK.

The boxing night is now in its sixth year with events taking place across the UK.
