CUB scouts across Kidderminster will ‘be prepared’ to celebrate the organisation’s landmark birthday this year.

Kidderminster District Cubs have announced a series of special events to mark 100 years since the cub scouting was introduced in the UK.

Throughout the year, children aged between eight and 10 will find out more about the history of cub scouting, learn new skills and take part in activities.

Events will include an activity day at Star City, a sleepover at the Sealife Centre in Birmingham, cub and parent activity day at Rhydd and a huge ‘Thank You’ event at Wyre Forest Glades Centre.

They are also using the centenary year to encourage more youngsters to join one of the 12 cub packs based in Kidderminster, Blakedown, Wolverley and Cookley.

Rachel Setchell, from ADC Cub Scouts (Kidderminster District) said: “Leaders are very excited about all the special events being planned to help cubs across Kidderminster celebrate 100 years.

“We have ten special events planned for cubs to join in, each event is different including a trip to Star City, a cubs and adult activity day at Rhydd, Kidderminster bake off competition, a sleepover at the sea life centre, two celebration camps and lots more.

“These events are loads of fun for all participants including the leaders they also offer a chance to make new friends and learn new skills.

"There are 12 cub packs spread across Kidderminster, Blakedown, Wolverley and Cookley. Both boys and girls aged from eight to 10 and a half can come along and join one the packs.

“Each pack meets weekly during term time with additional events and activities including camps at weekends and during school holidays. There is a small charge for attending cubs but we subsidise as much as we can where we can.”
