THERE is one week left to enter a competition to name three newborn baby deer at West Midland Safari Park.

The Bewdley park welcomed three Père David fawns – one boy and two girls – in April and is now looking to name the youngsters with the help of Shuttle readers All the name suggestions must begin with the letter ‘E’ and must be emailed in by Friday, May 13.

Bethan Davis, public relations officer at the park, said: “This year, all the newborns will be given names beginning with the letter ‘E’.

“This helps us keep track of what year they were born, as last year’s newborns had names beginning with ‘D’, next year will be ‘F’ and so on.

“As we have three baby Père David deer to name, we would love some help from the public.”

The species are classed as ‘extinct in the wild’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and is mostly found in captivity.

All entries must be received by the Friday, May 13, and winners will be announced shortly after.

Shuttle readers are asked to send their entries to pr@wmsp.co.uk.
