AS an open-minded individual I decided it was probably time to venture beyond the realm of musical theatre and try something new.

So a show exploring the ‘ancient art of genital origami’ seemed a perfect opportunity to do just that.

Even more so because it was a show that was actually brought to life in the south of the county.*

Puppetry of the Penis has had success in the West End, Off-Broadway and has appeared in many cities in the Western world.

It features two Aussies – show creator Simon Morley and Fitchy – full-frontal nudity and a whole lot of genital manipulation.

The Hereford show was opened by comedian Carly Smallman who remained fully-clothed and regaled tales of online dating, living with her parents, and not having a clue where in the country Hereford was.

She was truly funny – I have a terrible sense of humour – and hugely warm and likeable.

The main act opened to roars from a near all-female audience and the boys did a bit of a warm-up before kicking off their kit and tricks.

Without wishing to spoil the experience for any future audience, tricks included famous landmarks, food and even politicians.

The duo was also helped by CGI and video effects which added even more comedy value.

For a show featuring full frontal male nudity, Puppetry of the Penis was completely non-sexual and was hilarious from start-to-finish.

Overall, a fun evening of entertainment.

* Creator Simon Morley's wife was born in the county and they spent many years living in Kentchurch raising their children.

The present show was in fact put together in Orcop Village Hall.
