THERE will be much ado about coming home for Bromsgrove professional theatre company MadCap.

The group has been on tour with its critically-acclaimed production of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" for six weeks - but will be returning to Bromsgrove's Artrix centre for a one-off performance on Saturday, August 6.

Artistic director Emma Leigh said MadCap had been "wowing" audiences as far afield as London and Surrey but the company always thought there was "something very special" about performing at the Artrix.

She added: "Home crowds are the very best and the Artrix is always a highlight on our tour schedule.

"They were the first venue that took a chance on MadCaps as professional practitioners.

"It is because of the Artrix and the support they give emerging companies like ourselves that we have begun to grow into a nationally recognised company."

Set up in 2012, MadCap has developed a reputation for producing funny, fast-paced and entertaining theatre with a lot of flair.

Reviews have praised the group's "joyous enthusiasm", "comedic brilliance" and ability to bring out the "brilliance of the text" in Shakespeare’s works.

The company combines original text with a modern expression of humour, music and movement, with the aim of making Shakespeare "understandable and enjoyable".

"Much Ado About Nothing" stars the timeless characters of Benedick and Beatrice as they try to avoid what their friends already know - that they are perfect for one another.

MadCap bills it as "full of dazzling dialogue, drama, intrigue and a few horrible villains, it is the perfect play for a summer’s evening".

Tickets for the Bromsgrove performance cost £13 (£11 for concessions) and are available by visiting artrix.co.uk or the box office in person, and by phoning 01527 577330.
