A TALENTED Old Swinford Hospital School student has been awarded a place at the prestigious Birmingham Junior Conservatoire to study the acclaimed organist Thomas Corns.
After a successful audition, George Nicholls will now undertake organ lessons, grade six theory and chamber choir training at the respected musical training centre.
The 15-year-old has been playing the organ for four years having originally been inspired by former student William Peart, who is now studying the instrument at Gloucester Cathedral.
At the start of the summer, George gave his first solo recital at Great Witley Church in Worcestershire, raising £190 for the organ restoration.
Anna Downes, director of music at Old Swinford Hospital School, said: “We are delighted that George Nicholls continues to make excellent strides in his early career as an organist.”
George is currently studying for his GCSEs and hopes to read music at Oxford, after finishing his A-Levels at the Heath Lane school.
