AN ARMY veteran is tackling a 177 miles walk to help fellow servicemen who suffer mental health problems.

Neil Raisbeck is starting his challenge of walking the length of the Offa’s Dyke on Sunday in aid of veterans charity Combat Stress.

The walk, which will take 12 days to complete, spans the length of the English/Welsh border, starting from Prestatyn and culminating at Chepstow.

Neil joined the Royal Engineers in 1986 at 16 and served tours of Northern Ireland, the Falkland Islands and Iraq, to name a few.

He left the army in 2011 and now runs his own Health and Safety Consultancy in Hereford with wife Bonita.

He said: "It’s reported that more veterans died from committing suicide in 2012 than died fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan during the same period. This just cannot be allowed to go unaddressed.

"Combat Stress does an amazing job of trying to redress this balance by providing specialist care and support for ex-service personnel with PTSD.”
