CHILDREN are being invited to Hartlebury Castle on Bank Holiday Monday to learn how to be a chivalrous knight or a courtly princess.

On Monday (August 29) between 11am and 4pm, visitors can meet gallant Sir John, the Dark Knight Sir Christopher and the beautiful Princess Poppy. Families can learn how to duel and practice for a joust and learn how to curtsy and dance like a princess.

Children can enjoy hands-on crafts to take home including making a sword and designing a crown.

A Dragon Trail will lead visitors around the County Museum to find the dragons and their eggs. There will also be face-painting and a chance to have a go at archery.

There will also be a fancy dress competition at 3pm.

Pippa Ashmore, event organiser, said: "We are really excited about our big event day, there will be so much to see and do and we are very pleased that Sir John, Sir Christopher and Princess Poppy have agreed to train our young Knights and Princesses.

"All the staff are looking forward to learning how to be great Knights and Princesses and for anyone planning to visit, don't forget to wear your best costume."

Following the event, visitors between August 30 and September 1, from 10.30am to 4pm can also follow the Dragon Trail, make jousting paper knights and dragon marks and join in more training sessions.
