AN inquest has been opened into the death of man who died after an accident with a lorry during Ragley Hall's arboriculture and forestry show.

Richard Sheridan, 78, from Banbridge in Northern Ireland, was involved in the accident during the set up of APF 2016 on the Ragley Hall Estate on Tuesday, September 13 and suffered a number of serious injuries including a pelvic injury.

Two air ambulances, one with a doctor, a community first responder and an ambulance with a paramedic from West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene just after 3.30pm.

Warwickshire Police attended the scene shortly after 3.40pm, and are currently investigating the cause of the collision.

The health and safety executive has also been notified.

Ambulance staff treated Mr Sheridan for multiple injuries and he was flown by helicopter to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

He died later in hospital.

The inquest, opened on Friday, September 23 by the coroner for Warwickshire in Leamington Spa, was adjourned pending a police investigation.

APF 2016 is one of the UK's largest forestry, woodland, trees and timber show.
