RESIDENTS are being encouraged to get on their bikes with a free adult cycle training scheme in Wyre Forest.

The Wyre Forest Adult Cycle Training scheme offers residents aged 16 and over, two two-hour free training sessions, with qualified cycle instructors, tailored to the need of the individual.

Those who are getting started can learn to ride a bike in a safe off-road environment, while those who wish to build their confidence in cycling can do so with an instructor on quieter roads.

Intermediate and advanced training will also be available for those who wish to cycle more or on busier roads.

The training will be run at various locations throughout the district at times and dates to suit individuals.

Councillor Sally Chambers, Wyre Forest District Council cabinet member for health, well-being and housing, said: "Cycling is a great way to increase general health and fitness, as well as a great way to get about.

"While many children undertake Bikeability training in school, we are delighted to be able to offer adults the chance to learn to cycle or to increase their confidence on the roads.

"We have had some great feedback from previous participants and look forward to helping others to benefit from this scheme."

The Wyre Forest Clinical Commissioning Group has provided the funding to the forum to run the scheme.
