A MAN was left speechless after being ordered to pay £365 following two incidents of being drunk and disorderly in Hereford City Centre.

Jason David Griffin, 27, of Langland Drive, Hereford, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on October 2 meaning he breached a conditional discharge from a similar incident in January.

Peter Love, prosecuting at Hereford Magistrates Court on Thursday, said that police officers had attended Harold Street on October 2, where men and women were pushing and shoving each other.

"Griffin appeared to be one of the main people involved and didn't have his shirt on," said Mr Love.

"He had blood on his face and red marking on his abdomen.

"Police asked who had been fighting and in reply somebody said it was just football mates having a laugh. When asked about the blood by officers Griffin said he had a cold sore on his face.

"He appeared to be unsteady on his feet and his eyes were glazed."

Griffin pushed past the police officers and said 'there is no fight and we can all go home'.

Police arrested him and while they were taking him to the van he dropped to the floor and said 'why are you beating me?'.

Representing himself Griffin said: "It was just pushing and shoving between friends and family. Police weren't there and when they arrived I tried to walk away but they grabbed me."

The offence meant that Griffin broke a conditional discharge for an offence that took place in January.

Mr Love added: "On January 31, police went to Mamma Jammas nightclub where a disturbance was taking place and they saw Griffin along with a number of other people.

"They told the people to go in their separate ways before Griffin was later given a dispersal notice to leave the area. "At 3.09am police were called to reports of two men fighting and four or five people were trying to break it up.

"They saw another man on top of Griffin and police pulled both of the man apart before charging them both."

Magistrates ordered Griffin to pay a £150 fine for the first offence.

He was also ordered to pay a £100 fine for the new offence, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Following the sentence Griffin added: "I don't want to be paying anything, I'm speechless."
