BROMSGROVE residents are invited to light up the streets in the town's inaugural festive lantern parade in November.

The Illuminate Lantern Parade, part of the Better Bromsgrove Christmas extravaganza, will take place on Bromsgrove High Street on Saturday, November 26, from 4pm.

Residents are invited to make their own lantern and to take part in the parade and watch the entertainment, before heading to St John’s Church for festive family music.

A spokesman from Artrix Engagement, who have organised the event, said: "We hope that Illuminate Lantern Parade will become a regular feature of Bromsgrove’s festive calendar which promises to be better than ever this year.

"It’s going to be a beautiful family event, turning the High Street into a stream of lights!’

Families are encouraged to book on to one of two free lantern crafting workshops to be held at Bromsgrove Library on Saturday, November 12, and at Artrix on Sunday, November 13.

Places at the workshops are limited and are on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

There will be family lantern making workshops held in several local schools including Sidemoor First, Meadows First and Catshill First.

Artrix Youth Theatre will be performing at the parade, along with musicians from the Orchestra of St John’s. High Street Market stalls also remain open during the parade.

The event is being organised with the support of North Worcestershire Economic and Regeneration, Bromsgrove District Council and The Friends of St John’s Church.
