A 56-YEAR-OLD lorry driver has been sentenced for causing the death of cyclist Michael Thompson.
Mr Thompson, 65, was cycling to work along Hanbury Road in the direction of Stoke Prior on March 31 when he was hit by the lorry at 8.45am, and sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
On Friday (November 11), Mark Andrew Smithdale appeared at Hereford Crown Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.
Smithdale, of Hollyberry Croft, Birmingham, was sentenced to eight months suspended for 18 months, disqualified from driving for four years and ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work.
