THERE is hope yet for those in Worcester searching for the elusive Hatchimal.

This year's must-have Christmas gift has sold out in all stores across the country but there is one up for grabs right here in the city - and it could be yours for just 20p.

The Hatchimal is first prize in the raffle at Cranham Primary School, Warndon, where tickets are already selling fast.

The Warndon school's raffle can boast the highly sought after star prize thanks to the foresight of its parent teacher association who bought the £59.99 toy before sales took off.

Sarah Cassidy, a teaching assistant at the school, joked that the Hatchimal, a teal Penguala, would be in a glass case under armed guard until the draw is pulled next Friday.

Mrs Cassidy, who is also a member of the school's PTA, said: "We are always looking for ways to make money for the school.

"I knew it was going to be big because I noticed my daughter Lacey-Rose was watching children's uTube and she was watching children from all over the world opening eggs.

"She said 'look this girl has won a competition to go to Smyth's Toys and open a Hatchimal'.

"I managed to get one for the school and I said to the PTA group these are the most 'must have', is everyone happy to put it in the raffle?"

"We started selling them on Monday and it's taken off really well.

"It's just absolutely mad.

"If you go on ebay, the money they are going for is astronomical.

"Everyone is really pleased. One of our members has had one person buy 20 tickets straight off."

The tickets were on sale at the school's Christmas fete on Friday, December 2 where the toy, which is usually kept under lock and key, was put on display.

Mrs Cassidy said the raffle has already raised around £200 with more tickets expecting to be sold between now and the morning of Friday, December 9.

Anyone can enter by buying a ticket, which costs 20p or £1 for a book of five, from the reception at the Tetbury Drive school.
