AN elderly woman was treated by paramedics, after a fire completely destroyed a car and spread to her home in Bewdley on Boxing Day.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to a property in Meadow Rise, in Bewdley, on Boxing Day (Monday, December 26) at around 9.05am. 

The woman, who was in her 80s, was checked over by paramedics at the scene and discharged. 

The car fire had spread to the front of her property in Meadow Rise.

A spokesman from WMAS said: "We were called to reports of a patient who had become unwell following a car fire outside her house.

"The patient, a woman in her 80s, was treated for the effects of shock and discharged at the scene.

"We sent an ambulance and a paramedic area support officer to the scene."

A spokesman from HWFRS added: "The incident involved a car, which was totally destroyed in the fire.

"Firefighters from from Kidderminster and Bewdley fire stations attended the incident and used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and thermal image cameras to tackle the fire, which had also spread to a property.

"One elderly female was given a precautionary check by ambulance staff at the scene."
