A RETIRED Wordsley man hanged himself after wrongly fearing he had cancer, an inquest was told.
Ronald Bennett, aged 77, was found dead in his home in November.
Black Country Coroners Court was told that around 20 years ago, Mr Bennett’s brother-in-law died due to cancer and from then on he began expressing issues in terms of having symptoms of cancer.
Extensive tests at Russells Hall Hospital found nothing, but Mr Bennett continued to believe that he was suffering from a condition.
Coroner Zafar Siddique concluded that his death was suicide due to “anxiety and delusional beliefs”.
