POLICE are carrying out additional patrols after burglars raided at least £4,000 worth of jewellery from a Redditch home. 

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses following two day time burglaries on Monday, January 23.

Crooks raided a property in Brookfield Close, Hunt End, and made off with jewellery, valued at between £4000 and £5000. 

The offender had gained entry to property by snapping the lock on the rear door. This is thought to of happened between 11am and 1pm.

In a separate incident, offenders gained entry to a property in Stoneleigh Close, Oakenshaw, at about 11.30am by  removing a lock on the rear conservatory door.

The offender is described as a white male, aged 35, had a sock over his head and was wearing black boots.

The occupant disturbed a burglar and when he was confronted he has ran out of the property via the rear conservatory, jumped over the fence and ran off towards Grangers Lane.

In both offences lock snapping equipment was used to remove the locks. 

Safer Neighbourhood Team officers are stepping up patrols and urge anyone with information to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting 0222S of January 23 (Stoneleigh Close) and 0354S of January 23 (Brookfield Close).
