A SECURITY guard was attacked and robbed of cash outside a Kidderminster bank today (Tuesday, January 24).
The drama happened outside NatWest on High Street, in the town centre, at around 11.30am this morning.
It is believed a man approached the cash delivery van driver, who was outside his vehicle and struck him on the head. He then made off with a quantity of cash from the scene.
Police have issued an urgent appeal for information and witnesses to the incident.
The man is described as being black, around six foot tall, average build and wearing a black coat with a fur collar and a deerstalker hat.
He fled the scene in the direction of Coventry Street and Blackwell Street. The security guard suffered minor injuries.
A section of the High Street outside was cordoned off for more than two hours after the incident as officers carried out investigations.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information that could help police with their enquiries is urged to call 101 and quote incident 194s of 24 January 2017.
