BRAVE fundraisers with a head for heights are being encouraged to sign up for an epic indoor charity climb.

The Redpoint Climbing Centre in Worcester is hosting a special 12-hour event, in conjunction with Baxter Williams, on April 24 in aid of Acorns Children's Hospice and the charity’s care for life limited and life threatened children and support for their families.

Teams of climbers will attempt to scale 45,000 metres over 12 hours at the centre based off Midlands Road - the equivalent of reaching the seven highest summits in the world.

Amanda Smallman, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Acorns, said: “We’re delighted that Redpoint Climbing Centre and Baxter Williams have agreed to host such an epic challenge for Acorns.

“It’s so admirable to see supporters push themselves to the limit for a good cause and the money raised will make such a difference to those who rely on our care.”

Andy Harvey, from Redpoint Worcester, said: “Nick and I are delighted to be sponsoring the challenge.

"It is a perfect opportunity for organisations in Worcestershire to work together outside their normal working environment socially in a combination of team building and more importantly raising money for an amazing charity in Acorns.

“We aim to make this an annual event and the distance climbed and amount raised this year will set the target for years to come!”

Teams can be any size between five and eight people, are asked to raise £500 to take part.

Participants will be allocated a one-hour climbing slot on a first come, first served basis. All participants must be 18 or over.

It costs Acorns nearly £10 million every year to provide its services and it relies on the generosity of the public for the majority of this amount.
