POLICE are appealing for a woman to come forward after a 16-year-old boy was assaulted by a group of men in Bromsgrove.

West Mercia Police was called to the scene on College Walk just before 4pm on Saturday, March 25, where a mobile phone had been stolen.

Officers contacted West Midlands Ambulance Service after they arrived to find a teenage boy had suffered a cut to his head and lip, bruising to his right eye and scratches to both forearms.

One ambulance attended just after 4pm and paramedics treated the boy's facial injuries at the scene. He was left in the care of police after refusing hospital treatment.

Police are now looking to speak to an unknown woman, who had been in the area at the time.

PC Cadwallader said: "I would like to hear from the unknown woman who is believed to have witnessed the assault, and may have information that can assist with our on-going enquires."

A 19-year-old man from Bromsgrove was soon arrested on suspicion of robbery and carrying an offensive weapon but has since been bailed from police custody until April 24.

Anyone with information relating to the assault is urged to contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 493s of March 25.
