AN Elvis impersonator from Halesowen is coming home from a world tour for a church fundraising concert in Hasbury.

Mark Summers, who was named the UK's number one Elvis tribute act at last year's National Tribute Awards, will be singing a selection of The King's hits at St Margaret's Church, Hasbury on Friday, April 7.

Mark is a member of the Hagley Road church's congregation and all the money raised will go towards church funds.

He said: "This is the third time I have played my own church and it is always a special occasion.

"I am used to playing big concert venues and arenas but there is a unique feeling when singing Elvis gospel songs in a church."

The Halesowen hound dog is used to casinos, exhibitions and concert halls but he is looking forward to hitting the high notes in church.

He said: "A church is a great setting as Elvis sang a lot of religious songs so I will be singing Peace in the Valley, Walk a Mile in My Shoes and Lord You Gave Me A Mountain to Climb and also will take requests.

"I will also be doing young Elvis and Las Vegas Elvis so there should be something for everyone."

He added: "This year has been going great I am currently on a 60 date tour and am looking forward to getting back over to America next year."

The father of two has been a full time singing hip swiveler after being spotted by a cousin of Elvis ten years ago in Cyprus and is now regular on the moneyspinning US tour circuit.

He has recently worked with several musicians who played with Elvis during his glory years as well as being a firm favourite with Priscilla Presley.
