THIS picture shows the dramatic scene on the M5 after a van caught fire near Droitwich.

Firefighters from Droitwich and Worcester rushed to the fire, between junctions 5 and 6 of the motorway, and put it out within a few minutes.

No one was injured.

The fire happened at around 7.40pm last night.

One lane was briefly coned off to allow firefighters to work and drivers were warned to be aware of billowing smoke.

Highways England tweeted: "#M5 southbound J5-J6. Quick work by our @HWFire colleagues. Vehicle fire is out and traffic running past scene in all lanes."

A spokeswoman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said they received 12 calls from passing motorists about the fire.

She said: "It was pretty straightforward. There were no casualties. They were out of the vehicle when we arrived."
