CREWS from across Wyre Forest battled a huge embankment fire near Severn Valley Railway in Bewdley today.
Firefighters from Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourport were called to the incident involving a significant area of the railway embankment off Northwood Lane at around 3.45pm this afternoon (May 11).
One hectare of gorse and bracken were 'well alight' when fire personnel arrived.
Two hosereel jets, one 45mm jet and a leaf blower were used to tackle the blaze and clear the tracks.
West Mercia Police officers were in place to restrict traffic flow and drivers were urged to avoid the area for several hours after.
This is the third fire that has broken out in this area in less than a week following incidents on Monday and Tuesday.
Resident Nigel Woodall, who took the photos here, said today’s fire seemed much more severe than the previous ones this week.
He added: “There is a large amount of smoke and it appears to have broken out in two or three different places.”
