RESIDENTS are being urged to get on their bikes in Bewdley as part of a week of fun activities during the May half term holiday.

As part of the Big Bike Revival and National Bike Week, Overspoke Bikes and Bewdley Outdoors are hosting the third Bewdley Bike Week in the town between May 28, and June 2, in a hope to encourage residents to discover, enjoy and benefit from cycling in the local area.

Main events during the week include the Bewdley Bike Jam - a day packed with activities on May 28, at the Chapman Centre - Bank Holiday Monday pedalling adventures and Bikeability coaching.

Other activities include evening road and mountain bike rides, family rides, demo bikes, cycle coaching and bike maintenance checks.

Andrew Robson, from British Cycling, said: "The excitement around Bewdley Bike Week is infectious.

"The half term week is a perfect time too from a cycling festival, steam train bike accompaniments and plenty more besides - there is something in Bewdley for everyone."

Hannah Escott, event organiser and World 4x MTB Series Champion 2016, added: "We are so lucky to have such great cycling in our district, everyone is already buzzing about the week and I can't wait to be part of the action for the third year."

Community events have been sponsored Wyre Forest District Council, Bewdley Development Trust, Severn Valley Railway, Rybrook BMW, Structural Stairways, Go Ape and the Lions Club.
