A WARWICKSHIRE police officer has been sacked from the force for harassing a woman.

A Special Case Fast Track Hearing was held last week following an investigation by the Professional Standards Department (PSD) into PC Gary Bemowski.

He was dismissed from the force with immediate effect for gross misconduct.

Between October 2015 and December 2015, PC Bemowski undertook a course of harrassment against a woman by means of emails, phone calls, text messages and cards, which resulted in PC Bemowski being convicted of harrassment at Hereford Magistrates Court on 27 February 2017.

The hearing found that PC Bemowski aged 47, breached the standards of professional behaviour, in particular those relating to Discreditable Conduct.

Superintendent Helena Bennett, head of professional standards for Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police, said: "The misconduct hearing found that the behaviour of PC Gary Bemowski fell below the standards we expect from our officers and staff and amounted to gross misconduct and it is for this reason he was dismissed without notice."

The officer had completed 11 years' service with Warwickshire Police, most recently based at Bedworth.
