GREEN-fingered students at Bromsgrove School saw their space-themed display commended by judges at this year’s Malvern Spring Festival.

Pupils had been busy designing and building moon boot planters, planting planets and piecing together the garden for their entry entitled 'It's Out Of This World'.

Mrs Sam Dakin, Year 4 teacher and Forest School Leader, said “We started preparing for the show garden back in September.

"Every step has been child led with their design ideas forming the centrepiece.

"Being involved in creating our garden ‘Out of this World’ has been an experience which will stay with all involved for a long time to come."

The school was one of 14 entries, including one from a school in Russia, which took part in the much-loved school garden challenge.

The overall winner was Herefordshire school Cradley Church of England Primary's Exploration of an Astronaut’s Garden on Mars.

More than 100,000 people walked through the doors during the four-day gardening and food event between May 11 and 14.
