HUNDREDS of visitors flocked to the annual Wyre Forest Campaign for Real Ale's three-day Kidderminster Beer Festival.

Running for the fifth year at Kidderminster Town Hall, the festival - which ran between June 1, and June 3 - proved as popular as ever, as visitors attended over the three days to sample 70 beers, ciders and perries.

Thirty-five new CAMRA members were recruited during the festival, with 31 to the Wyre Forest branch. Particularly celebrated, was the branch's 500th member and a commemorative certificate was presented to Thomas and Warren Delo for the occasion.

This year's festival raised funds for the Emily Jordan Foundation - which supports adults with learning difficulties to learn new skills with the aim of getting them into paid work.

Nick Yarwood, Wyre Forest CAMRA chairman, said: "Kidderminster Beer Festival was successful - 900 visitors, 54 beers and 16 ciders and most ran out on the Friday and Saturday.

"The theme this year was Beer Safari, an exploration of interesting and unusual beers.

"There was safari fancy dress on the Saturday and four people in particular looked resplendent in their pith helmets and safari outfits."
