THE tireless fundraising of a 10-year-old girl from Bromsgrove has been recognised with a special certificate from district MP Sajid Javid.

Emily Faulkner, 10, has raised £4,320 in just six months as part of her Every Heart Matters campaign, which aims to put a life-saving defibrillator in every school in the district.

Her first defibrillator was installed at Parkside Middle School in September, with a second in Dodford First School and third at Stoke Prior First School a fortnight ago.

Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid, who also gave her a bouquet of flowers, said: “When anyone is doing work like this it is amazing.

“When it is a 10-year-old girl who has thought of it herself I think it is just extra special and even more inspiring.

“I wanted to recognise what she has done and hopefully other people will be encouraged that no matter how old you are, you can do something to help the community.

“She’s just an inspiration.”

Emily’s mum, Tracey, added: “We are really proud of her.

“It is just nice for her to get recognition as that helps to raise money awareness for her cause and in turn raise more money. It gives her a boost as well.”

Inspirational Emily, who is already halfway to raising enough for her fourth defibrillator, said: “I feel really happy that people are noticing. Everyone has been really supportive.”
