FORMER Worcester Sixth Form College students and their families were invited to attend a certificate presentation evening.
This was an opportunity for students to celebrate their achievements during their time at College and to be presented with certificates.
The evening began with a piano performance from Joe Rastall, current student, and was followed by a performance by current students Grace Shepherd and Jinpei Tuchel, who was accompanied by teacher of Music, Rowan Williams.
Michael Kitcatt, the College's principal, introduced guest speaker former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith who took to the stage to present the certificates.
She firstly recalled, with affection, her days of teaching Economics at Worcester Sixth Form College in the late 1980s.
She complimented the education provided at the College and said how well the students had done and emphasised the importance of people continuing to learn throughout their lives.
She also encouraged students to aim high and to become involved in politics, as a way of changing the world around them and particularly encouraged women to do this in the year that marks the centenary of women obtaining the vote.
An enjoyable night was had by all who attended the event, which took place on Wednesday, January 3.
