THE community has rallied around following the tragic death of the son of two tireless fundraisers from Redditch.

Tributes flooded in after Rob and Maggie Underwood, of the charity Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation, announced that their son Carrick, 19, had died.

The couple previously lost their daughter Charlotte to a heart-related condition aged just 16 in 2010, and their son Craig also died following a heart-related condition aged 17 in December 2013.

The couple posted on Facebook: "It's is with a very heavy heart that we have to say at 1.15 am 11/1/18 this morning we lost our beloved son Carrick.

"We are heartbroken, numb and totally lost."

Hundreds of people paid tribute on the social media site and an appeal has been launched to raise £3,000 to help towards Carrick’s funeral costs.

The appeal, set up by online community group Spotted:Redditch, has so far raised almost £2,500.

It says: "For any of you that don’t know Maggie and Robert they set up a charity in memory of their children’s deaths, to try and raise money to place defibrillators within our community, to try and save our family and friends from facing the same tragedy they have had to go through. They are the nicest most selfless couple I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They do everything for our community to help raise money to save lives, turning their pain into positive things.

"It’s our chance to show our appreciation for what they do for us, and to help a Redditch family in tragedy.

"This will never ever bring him back and I wish I could but it will help so much with a massive cost that is most definitely another worry they don’t need at the moment. Please everyone just little amounts will amount to something spectacular."
