TEENAGERS in Redditch are being invited to learn exciting firefighting skills by joining the Young Firefighters Association (YFA).

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) is looking for 13 to 17 year olds in the Redditch area to sign up, challenge themselves, and make new friends.

For any young thrill seekers that want to find out more, an awareness evening will be held at Redditch Fire Station, Birmingham Road, on Thursday, February 1, at 7pm.

New members of the YFA will undertake a 13-week training course where they will learn plenty of firefighting skills, which will then be demonstrated at a passing out parade.

As well as spending time learning new skills on the training yard, YFA members also get the opportunity to attend an annual camp and undertake different activities.

Becky Valender, YFA leader said: “Members of the YFA get to learn all about the fire and rescue service as well as participate in new and exciting activities that they wouldn’t normally get a chance to do!”

Anyone interested in attending the awareness evening can email redditchyfa@hwfire.org.uk or call 01527 62223, or visit hwfire.org.uk for more information.
