ORGANISERS of a popular Kidderminster community event have confirmed it will return to a town park later this year.

The third annual Brinton’s Bash, which raises thousands for charities, will be held on June 2 at Brinton’s Park and will feature live music, fun attractions and a range of stalls.

Residents and visitors have flocked to the previous events in their thousands while much-needed funds have been raised for good causes in the town.

This year, profits will be distributed between Wyre Forest charities Kidderminster District Youth Trust, Axis and Nightstop.

Brinton’s Bash was established by Quads and Castles owner Dave Griffin to replace the now defunct Kidderminster Carnival and parade.

Mr Griffin said a host of favourites and new attractions would be featured in this year’s event.

This includes live bands including the popular Murmur, a steam engine, fun fair, rock climbing wall, quad bikes, inflatables, a dance troupe, martial arts displays, Kidderminster Harriers, donkey rides and a planned firework display to end the day with a bang.

New features will include a wrestling competition giving grapplers the chance to win the Brinton’s Bash championship belt.

There will also be a visit from children’s movie favourite ‘Elsa’ from Frozen who will meet and greet fans as well as sing live on stage.

Mr Griffin is currently looking to add to the line-up and is encouraging people to get in touch with the ideas. He is also looking for people who can support the event through sponsorship and volunteering to help out on the day.

He said: “I am delighted to announce that Brinton’s Bash is back for a third year. This is a great community event which brings people together and helps raise money for such great causes.

“Some of the acts and activities have already been confirmed and more will be announced later. But this isn’t about what I think people want to see. It’s about what the community wants at the Bash.

“I want people to let me know what they wish to see. For example, I posted a poll on Facebook asking people if we should end the Bash with a firework display. Out of 426 respondents, 84 per cent said ‘yes’ and 16 per cent said ‘no’.

“But other people might think differently so they are welcome to contact me with all their ideas. If they are feasible and can be arranged, they will be.

“I am also looking for people who want to host a stall, bands who wish to perform or volunteers who can help the event run smoothly.

“And I’m appealing for more sponsors to come forward too. So far, we’ve had Hire It sign up as our main sponsor again along with Ultimate Vehicle Wraps and Quads and Castles.”
