A spokesman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service says they were called at 3.22pm this afternoon.

"The fire service has asked the public to stay away from the Beacon Hill and Earnslaw Quarry – police are implementing traffic management procedures," the spokesman said.

"Six fire engines and crews, from Malvern, Worcester, Upton on Severn, Droitwich, Whitchurch, Ledbury, and Ross-on-Wye, attended, plus two restricted access vehicles (RAVs), and a water carrier.

"The fire crews attempted to make fire breaks in the 400 square metre area to reduce to the spread of the fire in turbulent wind conditions."
