A MAN wearing a balaclava threatened shop staff with a wooden bat before making off with cash.

The incident took place at about 10.50pm on Monday, July 2, just before closing time, in a shop in Gilbert Road, Bromsgrove.

The man was carrying a wooden bat and demanding the safe to be opened.

He made off with an unknown quantity of cash from the safe.

He is believed to be about 6ft tall, of unknown age, wearing a balaclava, and possibly dressed in a black and white short sleeve T-shirt and long sleeved top, blue jeans or bottoms and black boots. He was holding a bag, possibly blue with green writing.

He arrived at the shop from the Rock Hill direction and was last seen in the vicinity of Austin Road where the bat was recovered.

No staff were injured during the incident.
