BRITAIN’S poshest train – where jeans and trainers are frowned upon – will be calling at a Worcester rail station this coming Friday.

The Northern Belle, Britain’s equivalent of Europe’s famous Orient Express, is described as “recapturing a bygone era of 1930s-style rail travel at its most luxurious”.

And train manager Sandra Jones promises passengers “can expect glamour, fun and a dash of adventure”

The train will be at Worcester Foregate Street station at 7.25am on Friday July 13 for a champagne-all-the-way trip to Chester, Conway Castle and Llandudno.

The seven renovated and individually decorated Pullman carriages, each named after a British castle or stately home, are hauled by a vintage diesel locomotive.

A three-course Bellini brunch will be served on the journey north. Then in the evening passengers will be welcomed back on board with a champagne reception before tucking into a slap-up five course dinner.

Northern Belle general manager Jeanette Snape said:  “It’s the most luxurious train in the country and that’s why we like people to dress appropriately for the occasion. Scruffy jeans and trainers are certainly frowned upon.”

The Northern Belle, which runs to various destinations around Britain during the summer, will leave Gloucester at 6.45am and Cheltenham at 6.55am, reaching Worcester Foregate Street at 7.25am.
