A GRADE two listed inn has been sold to a Bristol business.

The Highway Inn in Burford was traded to Scott Williamson and Ian Apsley following a deal brokered by Colliers International.

Hotels director Peter Brunt has previously sold a number of other businesses in the Cotswolds town, notably Burford House and Burford Lodge, and also sold the Grade II listed Highway Inn to its current owners three years ago.

He said: “The vendors have brought the Highway to its present peak, but are finding it difficult to devote their full attention to the business while looking after their family.

“Scott Williamson has operated at every level of the hospitality sector during the past 20 years including hotels and restaurants and at directorship level in leading UK and international restaurant groups.

“This has included opening several operations in Oxfordshire, and he is familiar with the Cotswolds.”

Mr Williamson said: “The Highway has massive potential – and as there is plenty of competition we will be focusing on where we can add value.

“I will be running the day to day operations. It’s a big lifestyle change from working in Surrey and London, but Burford is in the heart of one of the most beautiful parts of the world and there are lots of people coming in to the area.”

The Highway Inn is located on the main road through Burford, and near to the River Windrush.

It includes a three-bedroom owners’ flat as well as ten letting rooms.
