A COTSWOLD castle has announced the return of one of its most popular events this Easter.

Sudeley Castle and Gardens in Winchcombe is inviting families, history-lovers, and those looking for a great day out to join its Easter Joust on Sunday April 1 from 10am.

The Cavalry of Heroes will be returning for the event where guests will be able to cheer on their favourite brave knight.

New for this year will also be a falconry display to delight youngsters and older guests alike.

Visitors will also enjoy a royal visit from King Henry VIII, who will watch over proceedings and meet and greet attendees.

Visitor services manager, Tess Hirst, said: “We are delighted to be hosting our Easter Joust once again this April.

"Last year was the first joust at Sudeley for many years, and our visitors loved it so much, we simply had to bring it back for 2018!

“The event is a wonderful opportunity to experience a magical blend of theatre and horsemanship – plus the castle rooms, newly refurbished exhibitions, gardens, and new adventure playground will all be open to top off a wonderful day out for adults and little ones alike.”

Parents looking to keep little lords and ladies entertained during the Easter half term will also be pleased to hear that the first children’s Wednesday of the year takes place on Wednesday April 4.

The event will give children the opportunity to get up close to a variety of animals from animal encounters, including meerkats, snakes and armadillos. What’s more, there will be an Easter egg hunt and egg-citing arts and crafts will be taking place for children of all ages.

All of this is included with general admission price or 12-month pass tickets. The events are being held from 10am-4pm and tickets can be booked online at www.sudeleycastle.co.uk
