BROADWAY Arts Festival has announced they are funding a programme of activities and events for local schools throughout the festival.

From June 8 to June 17 there will be 10 days of the diverse, creative, educational and entertaining events.

They are encouraging the next generation with a new programme of family events, plus free creative activities in Broadway primary and nursery schools.

On Monday June 11 Radio 3 broadcaster, presenter, horn player and animateur, Tom Redmond will be working with Broadway Primary School children towards a musical performance for parents in the marquee after school.

Author of the award winning World War 1 stories Hilary Robinson and illustrator Martin Impey will be running a full day storytelling and illustration workshop in Broadway schools followed by book signings in the

marquee after school on Tuesday June 12.

ArtBase will be running art workshops in the schools to encourage the children to create, explore and express themselves using a range of exciting techniques and professional storyteller John Kirk will be entertaining

the younger children.

This year there will be activities for all ages throughout the festival including Playbox Theatre drama workshops for children and teens, free ceramics workshops, riotous Shakespeare with Romeo and Juliet, family friendly Jazz nights and a guest appearance by Tweedy the clown from Gifford’s Circus.

Theres an afterschool treat on Thursday June 14 with a performance of Roald Dahl’s “The Twits” in The Lifford Hall.

The Family Day on Saturday June 16 will feature free arts and crafts workshops, mural painting and street performers; whilst David Walliams fans can look forward to a theatrical production of the bestseller “The Midnight Gang”

in the marquee on the green.

On Sunday June 17 “The Great Broadway Paint-Off” takes place in and around the village with everyone encouraged to join in alongside professional artists and try their hand to win prizes.

Young artists are encouraged to take part as The Broadway Arts Festival Chairman’s prize is for the best work by a 12-16 year old.
