A NURSE who helped at the scene of a fatal crash near Ross-on-Wye has come forward to help police with their enquiries.

Police have today issued a release to thank the nurse who assisted on Monday at the crash between a white Vauxhall Vivaro van and a silver Vauxhall Corsa on the A40 between Ross-On-Wye and Weston-Under-Penyard.

Emergency services were called shortly before 7.30am.

The driver of the Corsa, an 18-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was transferred to Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham by air ambulance, where she sadly later died. Her next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the Vivaro, a man in his 30s, attended Hereford County Hospital.

Police said today: "We would like to thank the nurse, who stopped to assist, and has since made contact with officers to help with their enquiries."
