A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a crash in Hampton Bishop yesterday afternoon.

The B4224 was closed on Wednesday afternoon following a crash between a motorbike and a car at 4.25pm near to the Bunch of Carrots.

Police said the crash is believed to have taken place when the 25-year-old female rider of a black Honda CG 125 motorcycle was travelling on the B4224 through the village of Hampton Bishop out of the city when she was in collision with a Honda 4x4 travelling in the opposite direction towards Hereford.

The woman, who is from Presteigne, was in the company of two other motorcyclists after completing a Compulsory Basic Training test when the crash happened.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Whitehall Road at 4.15pm and sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham, with a doctor on board, to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a woman in cardiac arrest."

A student nurse, a veterinary nurse, Miss Lewis, and an off-duty firefighter had stopped at the scene and were performing CPR.

The spokesman added: “Ambulance staff took over and also administered advanced life support but unfortunately it became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A second motorcyclist, a man, and the car driver, a woman, were assessed for the effects of shock but were able to be discharged at the scene.”

The woman was declared dead at 4.48pm. The driver of the Honda 4x4 suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed and diversions put in place to allow emergency services to attend the scene.
