AN historic Stourbridge church will be brought to life with the sounds of instruments playing by themselves in a unique candle-lit music event next week.

The Oak Apple Orchestra - a completely automated assembly of instruments invented by Stourbridge artist Paul Gittins - will be performing at Stourbridge Unitarian Church in Lower High Street on Wednesday December 13 from 7pm to 8pm.

Church member David Taylor said: “In the winter months we run a regular candlelight event which is free and open to anyone. Sitting in the church with just candles is very atmospheric and relaxing. We are very lucky to have Paul Gittins and other artists and musicians involved with this unique event.”

The hour-long event is free to attend and the historic church, one of the town’s oldest buildings, will be illuminated only by candlelight.

Built in 1788 – the building can get very cold so people are advised to wrap up.
