THE Co-op will be opening a new look store in Pershore next month, following a £1 million investment.

The major makeover for the Co-op’s 8,500 sq ft food store in Racecourse Road, is set to lead to the creation of five new jobs.

The makeover includes new flooring and refrigeration, an enhanced bakery, a Costa coffee dispenser, a focus on fresh, healthy foods, meal ideas, and award winning wines.

The new store is to open on Friday, April 6.

During a 12 week programme of improvement works Co-op has been operating a smaller 2,000 sq ft convenience-sized store from the site, to continue to continue to serve the community.

The Co-op's membership scheme has previously benefitted good causes, including Pinvin Pre-School, whose children will be among the guests of honour and help to launch the new-look store for the community.

The retailer also supports Pershore Foodbank, raising more than £10,000 in under three years.

Local good causes, charities and community groups can now apply to benefit from the Co-op’s community fund, by visiting coop.co.uk/membership.

Kevin Pritchard, Co-op store manager, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to carry out such a significant investment in Pershore and we are really looking forward to welcoming members and customers back into their new-look Co-op when we conclude our programme of works.

"We would like to thank the community for its support during the works, we are proud to be part of the community, our aim is to ensure the store is a local hub, and a real asset for the community.”

Guy Wimhurst, regional manager for the Co-op, added: “We are investing in our people, stores, products, prices and communities, and we have the ambition for our stores to be at the heart of local life - bringing communities together and offering our great quality products when and where shoppers need them."
