AN Evesham hairdresser is set to rise to fame as he makes his mark at a national competition this weekend.

Let Lew, who runs OneTwoSix Hair Studio in Vine Street in Evesham, will be up in front of a panel of judges on Sunday at the Destination Fame finals in London.

He was selected from nearly 200 applicants as one of just two finalists chosen by the public but will compete against 11 other entrants.

His successful hair and make up look was completed on Olivia Whittaker and is a dramatic cut, with a short fringe and long curly hair. The colour is an obre style with dark black roots and red, pink and orange colours beginning halfway down the hair.

The 29-year-old, who only opened the Evesham hair salon in October last year with Chris Groves, said he was delighted his design had got him to the finals.

"I just thought we are a new salon so it would be good to something like this," he said. "I am always up for doing something like this, something different. And I got through to the final.

"I was up against 192 people from across the UK and Ireland so I am thrilled to be through to the finals."

On Sunday Mr Lew will have to recreate his style as seen on Miss Whittaker in front of the panel of judges.

If he is one oft he three grand prize winners at the end of the competition, which is being run by Matrix Hair Care and will take place at the L'Oreal Internation Academy in London, Mr Lew will get a Year of Fame with the company.

This includes a Matrix photoshoot mentored by award winning artists, PR and marketing support and the chance to be involved in the Matrix Live Tour.

"I will have to create the whole look again," he added. "As the judges haven't seen me creating the style as yet. Then they will pick a winner.

"I am hoping I will bring home a win for Evesham."
