THOUSANDS of pounds has been raised at an event for brave Evesham youngster Grace Dolphin.

The eight-year-old prompted the event at Evesham United Football Club on Saturday in her name as she suffers from acute myloid leukaemia.

Since being diagnosed her friends and family have been raising money to send her on a dream holiday to Disneyland and to sponsor the Evesham Suite at the Ronald Mcdonald’s accommodation house near Birmingham Children’s Hospital for one year, costing £5,000.

Lot’s included dinner, bed and breakfast at the prestigious Buckland Manor, several lots of sporting memorabilia and an MX5 Sport car for the weekend.

Under the expert gavel of auctioneer Brian Barber and his assistant Bern Jordan more than £1,800 was raised.

Along with entry, a raffle and donations from the Football Club and the Supporters Club a total of £3,043 was raised on the night.

Entertainment on the evening was provided by local singing talent Dean Bayliss who generously donated his fee to the fund and Martin Brain and Jamie Curtis who provided the disco at no charge.
