A CONCERT featuring the award winning Flowers Band is set to take place in Pershore Abbey on Saturday, April 18.

The event, the fourteenth annual concert including the band, will get underway at 7.30pm.

Since beginning the concerts the events have raised more than £20,000 for local charities with this year's beneficiary being the New College Worcester, a residential school and college for blind and partially sighted students aged between 11 and 19.

Music lovers may be particularly keen to attend the event as the Flowers Band are currently ranked seventh in the world and began the year by winning the prestigious Butlins Mineworkers Championship at Skegness in January.

The Flowers Band will be playing a wide and varied programme of popular and new arrangements for brass bands.

Tickets to the concert, which will finish around 10pm, will cost £15 and can be bought from Blue in Broad Street, Pershore, or by calling 01905 426537.
