A KIND-hearted Kidderminster mum has organised a fashion show to help raise money for a charity close to her heart.

Louise Hickman and her friend Natalie Hothi have arranged the event, which will take place at Youth House in Bromsgrove Street, Kidderminster on May 12, to raise money and awareness of Saras Hope Foundation.

Louise’s daughter Lily was just 18 months old when she was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma eye cancer in 2014, which resulted in her needing six months of chemotherapy and continual thermotherapy.

But the family were given much-needed respite when they visited the foundation’s retreat in Crete in 2015 and, since then, Louise has been fundraising for the charity – becoming an ambassador for them this year.

The charity night will also feature a raffle and auction with prizes donated by local people and businesses. The duo have also been supported by Kidderminster & District Youth Trust (KDYT), who are allowing them to use the venue for the fashion show for free.

Louise said: “When Lily was diagnosed, our world was shattered. We lost all normality and felt Lily’s childhood had been cruelly taken away.

“We found out about Saras Hope Foundation and going on the retreat made a tremendous difference to us.

“We were out there for a week and it was something we needed, being with people who could empathise and sympathise with what we were going through.

“The Foundation gave us a huge amount of support and guidance and when I returned, I decided I wanted to be a fundraiser for them.

“The fashion show is about raising money and awareness for the charity and Lily’s condition. It is still something people know very little about.”

She added: “Lily will be six in August and is in remission now, doing really well. She did lose the sight in her right eye but she goes to school and really is the most strong, little warrior.”

Natalie added: “We are so grateful to KDYT. They have been so supportive, despite the fact they are a charity themselves. My nine-year-old son Dhillon goes there and they are a fantastic organisation.”

The show will be held from 7pm to 10.30pm and tickets cost £8.50 and can be booked via https://billetto.co.uk/e/ladies-charity-fashion-show-evening-tickets-256214
