A COUPLE proved that you are never too old for love with a special Valentine’s Day meal at a care home.

Renee and Ernie, both in their 90s, have been together for 50 years and staff at Severn Heights care home in Callow End transformed the lounge and dining with hearts and balloons and organised a romantic, home made two-course dinner.

Ernie visits Renee regularly at the home and have lunch together every Wednesday.

Renee said: “We talk about everything and anything, about our dancing days and what has happened on the days we don’t see each other.

“The secret to our happy relationship is to talk and understand that no-one is the boss! He has never let me down.”

The couple met at a dance in Eckington and were both happily married at the time.

The two couples all became good friends, but when both Renee and Ernie’s spouse’s passed away, they later became partners and have remained this way ever since.
