THE skies are about to be lit up above Herefordshire as fireworks displays and bonfire nights are held.

Among those taking place are:

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29

Hereford

Hereford Rowing Club Bonfire and Fireworks Night. Gates open at 5pm. BBQ & bar. Bonfire at 6pm. Fireworks at 6.30pm. Refreshments available. Donations will be collected on the gate.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3

Weobley

Torchlight processions from 6pm starting from the village centre and Burton Gardens Community Centre (torches £1)  to Hopelands, Weobley Village Hall. Bonfire 6.30pm, fireworks 7pm. Entrance: Adults £5, children £2. Tasty refreshments and free parking.

Breinton

Breinton Parish Firework Party at the Community Farm, Warham Lane, starting at 6.30pm. Following on from the success of this in recent years, Kevin Hammett has once again kindly agreed to host the Bonfire and Firework Party at his farm. Refreshments will be served from 6.30pm, followed by the bonfire and fireworks. There is no charge to attend the party. The Parish Council and PCC have provided some funding for the party, but any donations on the night will be welcomed to help cover other costs of the event.Knighton

Mordiford

Mordiford School Fireworks and Bonfire Night. Music, BBQ and bar. Gates open at 5.30pm, guy procession at 6.15pm, bonfire lighting, 6.30pm and fireworks from 7pm. Tickets in advance from school: £10 family, adult £5, child, £2. On the gate: family £15, adult £6, child £3.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4

Knighton Show and Carnival present Bonfire and Firework Night at Llanshay Lane, Knighton, on Saturday, November 4. Proceeds will go towards funding next year’s Show and Carnival. By kind permission of the Price Family, Llanshay, Knighton. Entries for the Make a Guy competition close at 11am on November 5, and go to CCF, Knighton. Please attach name and number to your guy. Prompt start at 6.30pm. Adults, £4, children (under 16) £2, family (two adults, two children) £10.

Hereford

* Round Table in conjunction with Sunshine Radio and The Courtyard presents fireworks at Hereford Racecourse.Gates open at 5.30pm with fireworks at 6.30pm. All proceeds to Hereford Round Table.

* Castle Green Fireworks. Fireworks night in conjunction with St. James’s School PTFA. Lantern procession, music, bar and good food, not to mention a great firework display. From 5.30pm.

Ross-on-Wye

Ross-on-Wye Lions Club present a Bonfire and Fireworks at The Chase Hotel. Gates open at 6pm, bonfire lit at 6.30pm and fireworks at 7.30pm. Adults £6, children, £4, families £15.

Ledbury

Bonfire and Fireworks Display at Hazle Meadows, Ross Road, Ledbury HR8 2LP (Opposite the Rugby Club). Gates open 4pm; lighting of the bonfire 6pm, firework displays at 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Live music, hot food, bars and ample parking. There is also a competition for the Best Guy with a prize on offer. Adults, £5, children (under 12) and concessions £3.Tickets will be available in advance around town and on the night. Proceeds from the evening, rought to you by H.J. Pugh & Co, The Rotary Club of Ledbury, Marston's and Westons Cider, will be donated to the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Eardiston

Bonfire and fireworks display at Eardiston Country Club, next door to Lindridge village hall. Tenbury Wells. 6pm to 11pm. Free entry

Hay-on-Wye

The Black Mountains Lions Bonfire Firework Display will be held at Baskerville Hall, Clyro HR3 5LE. The gates will open at 6pm, the bonfire will be lit at 6.45pm and the fireworks start at 7pm. Free car parking. Variety of stalls including soup and hotdogs. 

Presteigne

Sheep Music, The Carnival and Presteigne and Norton Town Council present a spectacular firework display at Went’s Meadow in Presteigne. The evening will begin with the traditional parade through town starting from Presteigne recycling centre at 6.15pm. Children are encouraged to design and make a receptacle that will hold a (battery operated) tea light, which will be provided. Parents and others joining the parade should bring any percussion instruments/pots/pans that will make a big noise to accompany the procession. Local fire spinner John Bray will lead the parade onto Went's Meadow and will then present a fire display with music preceding the lighting of this year’s fire sculpture. To coincide with 2017’s Year of Welsh Legends, this year's fire sculpture will be a dragon designed by local artist Owen Rimington. The fireworks begin on Went's Meadow at around 7pm and following the display the Poobahs will be playing in the barn. There will be hot food available, tea and cakes plus a bar. Entrance £3.50, under 12 free.

Tupsley Quarry. Gates open at 4pm, bonfire lit at 6pm. Fireworks at 6.45pm. A free family event. Bring torches, no sparklers. Stalls, refreshments and rides.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5

TREAGO (ST.WEONARDS). Garway School Bonfire & Fireworks at Treago Farm (HR2 8QB). Gates open from 4pm. Bonfire lit at 5pm. Fireworks at 6pm. Adults £5, children (under 16) £3. 

Hereford 

* Bay Horse Inn, 236 Kings Acre Road. From 6pm for food with fireworks at 7.30pm. Entry is free
