THIEVES stole a car off a driveway after breaking into the house and taking the keys – the latest in a spate of thefts in St Peter’s, Worcester.

Kristian Ricco-la Richardson took to Facebook to warn others to ensure their property is secure after the theft of his Audi S5 in the early hours of Saturday (February 17).

Mr Ricco-la Richardson, of Begonia Close, said: “It is such a terrifying feeling to know someone has been in your house.

“I wouldn’t want any of you to experience the same.”

He described his blue 15-plate Audi as his “pride and joy” and said it was “spotted leaving the estate at speed and traveling down the new bypass to the Norton roundabout just after 4am”.

South Worcestershire IOM tweeted on Monday, asking people to “keep your eyes peeled” for the car.

Mr Ricco-la Richardson, who is originally from Manchester and went to Pershore High School, said: “They broke in to my house without a trace and took my car keys and car.

“It’s scary to know someone has been in your house and I wouldn’t want any of you to experience the same. Please keep your eyes peeled for my car as I just want it back.

“If anyone has any CCTV that point towards any roads, please let me know.

“We have a precise time and so if you live on Foxglove or the top of Primrose and have any footage I would be grateful of any information.

“Thank you all and lock everything,” he added.

On February 7, jewellery was taken from a home in Primrose Crescent and a home in Farne Avenue was broken into on the same day.

Cllr Roger Knight, who represents the parish on the city council, called the spate of thefts “disturbing”.

He said: “It was quite disturbing to read that there has been a number of burglaries in St Peter’s recently. It is not something we have seen much of in St Peter’s and it is not something we want to see in the future.

“St Peter’s is a lovely place to live and it will continue to be.”

In response to Mr Ricco-la Richardson’s post, Andy Llewellyn said: “Same thing happened to my neighbours about six months ago.

“They used a telescopic rod device through the letter box to open the door from within and found the keys.

“Close to the motorway, so they could get away quickly,” he added.

Speaking at a recent Droitwich Spa Town Council meeting, Sergeant Sarah Kent warned owners of expensive cars to be aware of new technology which “can grab your code off your key through walls and doors”.

She advised to move car keys to a high up place away from doors and walls and even put them inside a tin, to “potentially block the grabber from working”.
